BOOK PLACE

A PLACE TO SHARE AND/OR PROMOTE BOOKS - SEE WHAT'S OUT THERE

Hey everybody!

If you are not the person who handles marketing/promotions for your
company, please forward this email to them. :)

Bitten by Books is going to be doing the Blog Carnival the last week
of this month (starting 7/28) on our paranormal fiction review site:
http://bittenbybooks.com and offering a variety of gift certificates
from myself as well as other companies offering products and services.
We are opening the promotion to ALL companies regardless of genre, not
just paranormal. The very nature of the carnival drives people in all
age groups and all walks of life to our site.

The last one we did really put our other site
http://weirdstuffinmydesk.com on the map! We are only doing Gift
Certificates this time around to minimize confusion since the event is
so huge. If you have a store or other business that you cannot
generate a GC for, then you have the option of a Paypal Gift
Certificate, Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble etc. If these options are
not doable for your company and you still want to participate, please
feel free to contact me with your suggestions/ideas.

How it works:
I will create the list of companies and the Gift Certificates they
have donated, then the participants will come to Bitten by Books for
the carnival and get the details on how to enter to win. There will be
a variety of ways for them to enter multiple times, but the main one
is for them to go to each of the websites that have donated a gift
certificate and pick out a favorite title/item and come back to our
site to post a link in our blog. This pushes them to your site, makes
them look around, and all of the link backs to your sites will help
your SEO rankings.

During the last carnival there were over 900 participants and
thousands of readers hit the sites to enter the contests for an entire
WEEK! They are coming to my blog SPECIFICALLY to enter the contest for
prizes.

All you need to do is send me the information below. AND PROMOTE the
event starting on day one. I will email all the participants with the
link to the contest/carnival for you to send out to your mailing
lists, blogs, groups etc.
Once the event is over I will draw the winners and send their
email/name to you to issue the Gift Certificates. You will be
responsible for issuing the prize.

We welcome International prize donations as well!!

If you are interested in contributing a gift certificate, please email
me (racoo.smith @ gmail .com ) the following:
Put this in the subject line of your email so it doesn't get sent to
the spam folder:
BLOG Carnival Contribution - Bitten by Books
Your first/last name
Business Name
Your website URL
A one sentence blurb about your site/products
The GC Amount (must be an electronic GC) - Any amount of $10.00 or
more is great. The higher the dollar amount the more likely they will
be to visit your site to pick their favorite items. You can donate
more than one GC as well.

We already have an impressive line up of contributions for the event,
don't miss out!! Feel free to forward on to other groups and
businesses. We may have to limit the amount of prizes if there are too
many, so if you are interested, send your info right away. We have the
right to refuse requests that we feel do not fit the theme of the
event.

Thank you for your time and I am excited to be working with you on
this fun and beneficial event!

Blessings,

Paper War

I've been waging a war on paper the last few days. So far, paper is winning. The more I clean up, the more of it I find. The problem is, for much of it, I feel an obligation to do a thorough examination and decide whether or not it's worth keeping.

The mailperson is my enemy. He, sometimes she, keeps leaving more paper in my mail box. I'm not talking about my Christmas cards, which I cherish, but all the other stuff dropped off for me to sort out. At times it's torture to come home and see the new pile the DH has set on the kitchen table.

I've discovered tons of magazines over a year old. They were trying to hide in a magazine holder on the side of the couch, but not doing a good job of it, since they were spilling over. Of course, I decided to check the headings on the covers to see if some of the information inside might prove valuable. Wouldn't you know it, I was right. Many articles seemed to good to give up.

I've already mentioned here before about how I also have a compulsion to print out emails that seem important to me. The result is I have lots of important pieces of paper. When there's an abundance, which is the most important? And, where's the one I really need? It is a quandary.

What about you? Is paper your enemy? Are you also waging a war against it? Who is winning?

Rascal's Turn to Post

Today, I'm going to tackle my State of Illinois sales tax form, which is due by the end of the month. It's a necessary evil for making book sales outside of stores.

So, I let Rascal do a post instead. You can read it at http://www.doggyspace.com/journal/57331

If you understand her frustration, you can share it with her here or there.

Thanks,
Morgan

Rascal is sleeping right now. When she gets up, you'll know about it.

When RASCAL wakes up, you'll hear from her and/or her Mom - that would be me, Morgan Mandel.
