Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”
Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."
Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"
Book Synopsis:
The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.
Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.
The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.
Actually, I get pretty excited about all of the stories as they're unfolding. That's happened 35 times so far, in addition to a few picture book manuscripts which are not published yet.
I've mentored a lot of starting writers, and I try to encourage as many people as I can, but due to my own writing and marketing schedule, along with my client video production, extra time is not easy to come by. If you have some specific questions, I'd be glad to try and help, but I can't make any long-term commitments just now.
Great questions. I had 6 other brothers and sisters in my family, and no one else has begun writing except for me. Not only was there no pressure, I don't think it occurred to any of us that we should even try it. Because my dad was also a film producer and director, I was exposed to that at an early age. And that's what I became interested in doing. I've been involved in hundreds of film productions, thousands of TV commercials, and hundreds of video programs. When I began to write, I didn't tell my dad for a long time. I thought he'd be my worst critic. I expected similar reactions from others in my family because everyone saw my dad as THE writer in the family. When I let it be known I was writing, the reaction from my family was quite positive, and my dad became a mentor. My oldest sister, who taught creative writing at the college level, became my editor. My dad had been very close to another author throughout his career. He referred to this man as his writing buddy, but that author had died many years ago. My dad told me one day that, now, I was his writing buddy. He died a little over three years ago, but he'd been very supportive.
