A lazy day between the pages of a great book.

The title really says it all! rainy yucky days are made for curling up with a book and losing track of time.I do enjoy a good read and I look forward to sharing some of my past friends with you and seeing what you have to share as well.
i didn't really start to enjoy reading until I was in College, and once I started I haven't looked back.
Now I don't know as I will ever be as voracious as my father. He'd stop by the Library on Friday walk out with a stack of books and return them all on Monday!… Continue

Maybe someday.

While my day to day life is somewhat less than the stuff that books are made of and I am yet to start down that road to getting published: maybe some day. i do not believe that a full blown novel is in my future but more realistically a collection is. The short term brick wall is not knowing how to get started. Many of my stories can be found on other ning sites; The Writer's Box and Writer's world in particular. All who Create is another site that I have used as well.
I know that this is primar… Continue

Hey! Here I am!

Ok, I got invited and here I am. Yet one more website that I need to put on my growing list of places to visit on a regular basis. However this one seems interestingly different; pleasantly so. I can actually read some reviews and share oppinions about books that I have read! A nifty twist. I like it; thank you for the invite, it was most kind of you. I see that some of my friends from other ning sites are here too! Cool!
This brings me to a question however, why are there no groups for War stor… Continue

Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

Just a howdy from me to everyone here! Wish that I could say that I am published, but I cain't. I do however enjoy a good yarn. I will be open and as honest as I can with anyone who asks. That being said do not expect lightening fast responses. My internet access is limited to evenings at the local library and weekends. I will get back to answer any questions as soon as I can. If I can't answer you I will tell you so and I usually not just saying so to blow you off.
My reading tastes and writing tastes are as varied as my moods. I hope that you enjoy any of the stories that I may post; if not please feel free to express your views.

Hi Charlie

My name is Chris Tusa, and I'm a writer from New Orleans. My debut novel, Dirty Little Angels, is now available for pre-order from Amazon.com, and I am writing because I was hoping you might be willing to read it and post your thoughts on your blog (or on Amazon.com, or on some of the other book-related sites). If you're interested, I'd be more than willing to send you an e-book version by e-mail. Just let me know. I've included a summary of the novel below:

Dirty Little Angels
Set in the slums of New Orleans, among clusters of crack houses and abandoned buildings, Dirty Little Angels is the story of sixteen year old Hailey Trosclair. When the Trosclair family suffers a string of financial hardships and a miscarriage, Hailey finds herself looking to God to save her family. When her prayers go unanswered, Hailey puts her faith in Moses Watkins, a failed preacher and ex-con. Fascinated by Moses's lopsided view of religion, Hailey, and her brother Cyrus, begin spending time down at an abandoned bank that Moses plans to convert into a drive-through church. Gradually, though, Moses's twisted religious beliefs become increasingly more violent, and Hailey and Cyrus soon find themselves trapped in a world of danger and fear from which there may be no escape.

If you'd like to read the first chapter before you commit, feel free to visit my web site:

Thanks so much,
Chris

Come on Over

I'm over at a few other blogs today. If you get a chance, come on over to see the Christmas Decorations at http://acmeauthorslink.blogspot.com/

At http://bloodredpencil.blogspot.com/  the topic is Spoiled Milk. Ever sit down to read a good book and been disappointed?

If you haven't yet, check out the post below about the Paper War.

Thanks,
Morgan Mandel

Paper War

I've been waging a war on paper the last few days. So far, paper is winning. The more I clean up, the more of it I find. The problem is, for much of it, I feel an obligation to do a thorough examination and decide whether or not it's worth keeping.

The mailperson is my enemy. He, sometimes she, keeps leaving more paper in my mail box. I'm not talking about my Christmas cards, which I cherish, but all the other stuff dropped off for me to sort out. At times it's torture to come home and see the new pile the DH has set on the kitchen table.

I've discovered tons of magazines over a year old. They were trying to hide in a magazine holder on the side of the couch, but not doing a good job of it, since they were spilling over. Of course, I decided to check the headings on the covers to see if some of the information inside might prove valuable. Wouldn't you know it, I was right. Many articles seemed to good to give up.

I've already mentioned here before about how I also have a compulsion to print out emails that seem important to me. The result is I have lots of important pieces of paper. When there's an abundance, which is the most important? And, where's the one I really need? It is a quandary.

What about you? Is paper your enemy? Are you also waging a war against it? Who is winning?
