- Are you an Author, Reader, Publisher, Editor, Agent or Other?
- I am an avid book reader who reviews, edits, proofs and beta reads and whatever else anyone needs for help to get a story done. I will do anything I can to help those that need it although I am not an author myself nor do I really wish to be I prefer to play in the background and help others along the way and see them succeed and know I have had a helping hand in that. I will be glad to help anyone that comes and asks and it is something I can genuinely help others with. I do not get paid for any of my volunteer help but I do not do it for the money since I have none and that is ok. Acknowledgement is enough and a thank you for a job well done will work. Also I have been helped by many the last few years it is my way of paying it forward for others that need help especially in the literary field.
I have helped as a book reviewer, editor, proof reader and beta reader and just being a friend to correct any obvious typos before a work is submitted. Anything I can do in my power and expertise I will gladly do. Just come say hi and ask. I do not bite unless asked *smiles* Besides now that I am waylaid for the next 6 weeks or so now that I had my neck surgery on Thursday I am BORED so reading is helping with that.

- I am out on medical and JUST HAD NECK SURGERY on Thursday, November 29, 2007 and will now be in a dang neck brace and not be able to drive for about 6 weeks then it is on to a neck collar for another 6 weeks but then I can drive ... YEAH. I am hoping to get to Geneve, Switzerland in late January and see the very special man in my life and see what is up and go from there. So things have started happening in the midst of moving I got a call saying you are having surgery in less than 3 days YIKES, so I never completed the last of the packing and moving and the stuff is waiting me for when I can pick it up ... hopefully in January when I can finish the move and fully settle in back to the Santa Barbara area where I call come again.

HAD MY NECK SURGERY ON 11/29/07 YEAH
OK I finally got my needed neck surgery and even graduated from the darn neck brace I was in originally for 6 weeks to the neck collar which is good because Now I can drive again and do a bit more. Though that activity also ends up making my neck hurt worse at times because of the exercise of the muscles it has not gotten in a while.
Anyway it is getting better slowly but surely I hope and will see what the next month or so brings til my next doc visit.

DOING HAPPY DANCE... YEAH I GOT IT ... YESSSSS.....
I FINALLY GOT MY NECK SURGERY APPROVED IN THE MAIL TODAY .... I got the notice and went wild ... yes ... doing the happy dance since I had my first neck surgery Sept. 2001 and have needed and been trying to get it approved for over 3 yrs. But now I finally got it.
Think some good thoughts though please because I need my shoulder fixed first and that still needs to get approved but whew what a huge weight off of me this has been holding me back and down for so many years and I

I see this place has grown this last month I started when it was just barely started and now wow .. there are so many and I hope to meet you all and with luck make a few friends here. This seems a great group since we are so diverse from just readers to librarians, from authors to publishers and from reviewers and editors to any and everything else we can think of in the literary world.

Slides, Anyone?
I added a few slides of my books to my blogspot. I'm not sure yet if they should stay on or not.Do you have more trouble loading my blogspot with the slides up? Do you like them or are they too distracting?
A Christmas Tree Already
On the way home from work yesterday, I passed a house that already had a lighted and decorated Christmas tree up and showing by the window.Is it not too soon for that? In my mind, the day after Thanksgiving is when the Christmas Season starts. That's when it's fair game to put up a tree and decorations and start shopping. The way things are going this year, I'll be lucky if I get organized enough to decorate a few days before Christmas.
With our dog, Rascal, who lives up to her name, we'll probably go with a fiber optic small tree on top of an end table. One of these days I may pull put the larger tree from the box in the basement and set it up, but not until our doggy is a little more sedate. I don't feel like chasing her to get ornaments out of her mouth. I will be putting up knick knacks, lights inside and decorations on the walls, so it will still look Christmasy. No lights outside because for some reason we have no outlets outside.
While we're on the subject of Christmas trees and such, be sure to add holidays in your books. You can mention decorations and lights or Easter eggs and baskets, or even mattress sales in your descriptions to ground the reader as to the season.
Now, back to that tree I saw. What about you? When do you decorate for Christmas? What do you put up?
Winners and Losers at the CMAs and Life
I love country music and almost every country performer. While watching the CMAs, I enjoyed seeing the winners accept their awards. On the other hand, it was hard for me to see the losers do their best to appear gracious and for the most part succeeding.For every winner, there's a loser. In life and in books, it's the same way. How people react to their good and bad fortune shows what their characters are made of. You don't have to tell a reader who the good guy or bad guy is. Let their actions speak for themselves. The readers are smart enough to figure it out.
PS Can't finish this blog without saying - You Rock, Taylor Swift! You are one smart, talented teenager! Congrats on all your awards, especially, Entertainer of the Year!!!
CMA Awards Tonight and Twitter
One of my favorite shows is on tonight - the CMA Awards. If you're a country music fan, you're probably like me and will be glued to the TV 8pm EST, or in my case 7pm, in the flatlands of Illinois.Almost all my favorite performers will be there, except I hear that Rascal Flatts can't make it.
I'll be on Twitter during the show also. That's part of the fun of it - discussing and dissecting outfits, performers, songs and even commercials, kind of like I'm at a giant party with people who all go for the same thing and want to share.
What about you? What kind of music do you like? Do you tweet during a favorite show or event?

THIS MEANS no driving for 6 weeks at least ... I am going CRAZY ... help... but I got my surgery and see the doc next week for my 2 week post op check up so wish me well. I am not on much lately because of the surgery and neck pain and stuff but thanks for the well wishes before and now you know I finally got the needed surgery.
