About Me:
I live in a small town by a river, which is a great place for me becasue it has given me ideas for books, such as the mystery series I'm working on.

It is hard for me to stay focused on one manuscript at a time. I have been told that I have to focus on just one, but I find it hard. So I work with at least two manuscripts at the same time. And people are puzzled at how I can do that. I guess thats what seperates me from them.
Favorite Books:
Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Yearling, The Westing Game, The Outsiders, The Windsinger, Seeker, The Whisper in the Dark, The Artemis Fowl Series, Inkheart, The Books of Ember Series, The Oath, Into The Woods, The Host: A Novel, The Red Badge of Courage, The Last Jihad

Hollywood Vampire - Part 3

The room that he gave me was quite spacious. I let my back pack slip to the ground as I looked at the light brown wooden walls. The bed seemed to be something close to Victorian. The whole house seemed unable to fit in a city like LA were nearly every house has modern furniture.

“I’m guessing you like it?” Dean asked as he stayed in the doorway.

“Yeah.” was all I was able to say.

“I’ll let you get to sleep then. And if you need anything, just call my name.”

“What about Jess?”

Hollywood Vampire - Part 2

“Wait.” a voice called from high up on my left.

I would have looked if it wasn’t for the fact that there were fangs that had just stopped inches away from my neck. And a hand that was curved into a claw on the other side, preparing to hold me in place with a sure death grip.

The man who was about to kill me - and possibly still was - snorted in disgust as I felt a faint whoosh of air come towards me. Every part of my brain screamed at me to run but my feet were cemented to the pavement. A low… Continue

Hollywood Vampire - Part 1

I was packing my things. I’d had enough of my drunken father with his spurts of rage, which came at closer intervals now. He would be home in half an hour and I planned to be gone by then.

I didn’t care if I wasn’t old enough to leave. Seventeen was a good enough age for me, and my birthday was coming up in three months anyways. So age doesn’t really matter. Just as long as I get away. Far away, were he wouldn’t ever find me.

As I packed the final things into my backpack and zipped it up, I he… Continue

G-20 Short Story

Hey All,
I wrote this story for an assignment that was given out at the latest creative writers group that I was at. And I didn't even though the topic was not exactly to my liking. So, instead of letting this piece of writing go nowhere, I thought that I could at least post for you guys to read. Talk to all of you later.

God Bless,
Shawn :-)

Inheritance of Murder - Part Four - The End of A Mystery

Aaron rode fast to the police department in the business district of the town, set along the large main drag. He pulled his sporty little Volvo into the crack riddled parking lot. Stepping out of the car, he power walked to the front doors of the two story building. This building actually used to be the towns largest, and only, law firm, which closed down back in the 70’s when a lot of new firms started popping up and out doing them. The police station moved to this new location last year after… Continue

Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”
Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:
The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

Laughter heals the soul so keep on laughing. It can get you thru anything! That's why I want to take my story which some would consider serious and somehow make it an adventure with comic humor. Right now it's just venting but I am almost over that for now. I grew up as a Navy Brat with a Bipolar Mother and an Acoholic Father. I am the oldest of Four. Drama Club was the only place I ever fit in. That only lasted 4 yrs. Moved out when I was 14 the first time and shuffled back and forth for a few years. Got pregnant at 17 to a daughter who is 28 with 3 children and has Manic Bipolar (the real stuff just like my mother) at 20 I Married a Navy brat who's family of course new mine. It was the last place my father was stationed so it was the place I ended up staying for 10 yrs until I moved to Ky. My husband is an only child and his parents were getting old and I was getting tired of the partying. Shoved his shit outside in the rain. called his mother, gave him a choice me or the partying and I won. Sold everything we had the next week and move to Lousiville Ky. Been here since 1989. 2 months before the earthquake that crushed Oakland. My husband would have been on that pass. It worked with the trucker that died. People here still have a time with my bluntess. I am not rude by far but I say and talk about everything. My parents did one thing right. Never lie and never judge someone by the color of their skin. I am like a New Yorker without the accent. Thats how it was back in the 60 thru 80's from Annacortis Wa., Idaho, Oregon, Auburn Ca. to Sad Diego Ca. ending up last in the Alameda Ca.- right over the bridge literaly from San Francisco called the Bay Area until the move here. So I have a lot to tell. But I dont want it to be fictional or factual - I want it to be entertaining. Humor, adventure, love and sadness. Something like the Movie Pinapple Express to Juno mixed in with Pretty in Pink. It feel good to talk about this kinda of stuff instead of mental illness. My blog was meant to Vent on everything but it has taken a life of it's own. Everyone usually emails me back instead of commenting on the blog. Too ashamed to have anyone recognize them. That's sad. besides they can make up names. Thanks for talking to me. I really needed someone to write back. I have been trying for months to get some back and forth talk on real beginning book writing. How did you start? Did you do it in scattered pieces then put it together? Tell me your whole process. I tt alot. I know.

I don't know any specific contests for short stories. But I'm sure that if you google them, you'll surely find some. You could also look up the genre organizations you write in, like Romance Writers of America, or Mystery, Sci-Fi, etc. Best of Success. Let me know what you find out. Lynda

Paper War

I've been waging a war on paper the last few days. So far, paper is winning. The more I clean up, the more of it I find. The problem is, for much of it, I feel an obligation to do a thorough examination and decide whether or not it's worth keeping.

The mailperson is my enemy. He, sometimes she, keeps leaving more paper in my mail box. I'm not talking about my Christmas cards, which I cherish, but all the other stuff dropped off for me to sort out. At times it's torture to come home and see the new pile the DH has set on the kitchen table.

I've discovered tons of magazines over a year old. They were trying to hide in a magazine holder on the side of the couch, but not doing a good job of it, since they were spilling over. Of course, I decided to check the headings on the covers to see if some of the information inside might prove valuable. Wouldn't you know it, I was right. Many articles seemed to good to give up.

I've already mentioned here before about how I also have a compulsion to print out emails that seem important to me. The result is I have lots of important pieces of paper. When there's an abundance, which is the most important? And, where's the one I really need? It is a quandary.

What about you? Is paper your enemy? Are you also waging a war against it? Who is winning?

Rascal's Turn to Post

Today, I'm going to tackle my State of Illinois sales tax form, which is due by the end of the month. It's a necessary evil for making book sales outside of stores.

So, I let Rascal do a post instead. You can read it at http://www.doggyspace.com/journal/57331

If you understand her frustration, you can share it with her here or there.

Thanks,
Morgan
