About Me:
After serving twenty years in the military and spending over ten years overseas, Korea and Panama, I served my last five years ('90-'95) at Pope AFB, NC. Now that I have been retired since April 1, 1995, I can look back and make since of why my last years in the military were filled with resentment and apprehension. Let me explain my story. Prior to coming to North Carolina, I was stationed at Howard AFB, Panama. After Operation "Just Cause", I was given a short notice assignment to Pope AFB in February 1990. While at Howard, I felt a strong since of pride and camaraderie toward my peers and superiors. First, let me explain something. Prior to returning to the States in 1990, I had been overseas for seven years straight, three years in Korea and the next four at Howard AFB, Panama. Being stationed overseas gave me a since of accomplishment, a clear perspective of my role and purpose in the whole scheme of things. Our job was clear and simple, refueling aircraft, maintaining massive fuel storage plants to keep our fighters in the air.
Under combat conditions, fear was overcome with adrenaline and determination to complete each mission. Returning to the States , after seven years, was a big letdown. What does this have to do with Depression, you ask? Well, at the time, I didn’t know what depression was. After years of serving my country with all of the adversities placed my way, I realized that, through the fast pace regiment of my career, I didn’t have time to be depressed. I just recently released my first self-published book which is based on my life, through poetry. When I assembled this work of art, I didn’t know where I was going with this story. After I received a few independent reviews of this endeavor, and reading the fruits of my works, I finally realized how depressed I have been most of my life.
Semmaster’s Thoughts are a series of poems partitioned by the emotional reflections of a man who has finally taken control of his body, mind and soul from the demons within. The Great Master has awakened my senses to the sweet smells, sounds and sights of a literary world full of the essence, verbal expressions and visions that has long been ascending from gut to mouth to paper, the truth as it reflects the path I must trek to enter into the Mansion of The Creator.

MORGAN'S OWN BLOGSPOT

Come on Over

I'm over at a few other blogs today. If you get a chance, come on over to see the Christmas Decorations at http://acmeauthorslink.blogspot.com/

At http://bloodredpencil.blogspot.com/  the topic is Spoiled Milk. Ever sit down to read a good book and been disappointed?

If you haven't yet, check out the post below about the Paper War.

Thanks,
Morgan Mandel

Paper War

I've been waging a war on paper the last few days. So far, paper is winning. The more I clean up, the more of it I find. The problem is, for much of it, I feel an obligation to do a thorough examination and decide whether or not it's worth keeping.

The mailperson is my enemy. He, sometimes she, keeps leaving more paper in my mail box. I'm not talking about my Christmas cards, which I cherish, but all the other stuff dropped off for me to sort out. At times it's torture to come home and see the new pile the DH has set on the kitchen table.

I've discovered tons of magazines over a year old. They were trying to hide in a magazine holder on the side of the couch, but not doing a good job of it, since they were spilling over. Of course, I decided to check the headings on the covers to see if some of the information inside might prove valuable. Wouldn't you know it, I was right. Many articles seemed to good to give up.

I've already mentioned here before about how I also have a compulsion to print out emails that seem important to me. The result is I have lots of important pieces of paper. When there's an abundance, which is the most important? And, where's the one I really need? It is a quandary.

What about you? Is paper your enemy? Are you also waging a war against it? Who is winning?
