About Me:
Born and raised in Western Washington, Zada grew up in a variety of places such as Seattle, Port Townsend, and many other cities and towns. She learned about the flora and fauna from her family members and friends. Many hours were spent in the woods and public parks. Married three times, and divorced as many times, she learned that she is marriage challenged and that she does not always make the best choices. Nor does she make a good ‘wife’; instead, she is content to be a partner in life with her best friend. He has been instrumental in letting her take this new course in her life.

In school, she enjoyed the English and composition classes, seldom having to take essay assignments home. She was able to finish the work in class and often assisted other students with theirs. She also took writing courses at Highline College in Midway Washington. Doing her rough drafts in her head, the final drafts always met with approval, gaining her an "A" as her final grade.

Due to a freak accidental fall in which her ankle was badly fractured, she spent months on her back during recovery, allowing time to formulate this story line. Since she is no longer part of the work force, she has had the time to sit and write.

Abused as a child, and sustaining further abuse as an adult, when she decided to embark on a writing career, she was told to write about what she knew. She took her own experiences and attributed them to various fictional characters in her novel, Mother's Journals, Parts 1, 2 and 3. While she had taken journalistic license, she did not commit any crimes that are depicted in her work.

Her fiction is not for the young and impressionable, as there are many explicit passages better left to the mature reader.

Special Days

Valentine's Day is over now, New Year's too. President's Day, to celebrate presidential birthdays has just passed,

Now we have saint Patrick's Day and Easter to look forward to. And then we also have The Fourth of July (Independence Day), Labor Day, Memorial Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas. I may have forgotten a few, like the birthday of the Marine Corps, Jeremiah Johnson's birthday, Groundhog Day etc.. Don't forget your own birthday and that of loved ones!

Happiness Is optional

If one wishes to be happy, they must remember that happiness is not having what you want, but rather, wanting what you have.

It is also a choice that one makes. We can live in the misery with painful memories of the past. Or we can choose to let go of the pain and start fresh. The experiences we have had can become tools we use to have empathy for others. When we have been in the same painful spot as another individual, we can ease their burden by sharing our own trials.

Sometimes our own expe… Continue

Reviews for "Mother's Journals: parts 1, 2 & 3

I have been most fortunate in the department of getting good reviews on my writing effort. Some have been in the form of phone calls and people telling me how much they enjoyed the book. Many have been in the asking for more. Even from the most unlikely of sources, both young and old readers alike. I will share some of the written and already published ones with you here.

Here's the first book review for my suspense-thriller, COMA.

This suspense thriller has everything to keep readers intrigued: a witty, unconventional hero; an exciting plot that delivers non-stop action from beginning to end; a seemingly unstoppable villain; and a couple beautiful women vying to domesticate the loose cannon. This one would make an explosive movie. Think Bourne, or the Bruce Willis version of The Jackal, then multiply by ten and you’ll have an idea of what the movie version of COMA would be.

Time Out for Kindle Reading

Our local library has 8 kindles available for its patrons. The DH and I both got on the waiting list, mainly so I could use one. His number was reached and we picked up the kindle on Sunday afternoon. Now I've got a kindle to read for 2 weeks! So far I'm really loving it, especially the current book I'm reading, My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult.

What about you? Do you own a kindle? Or, have you tried someone else's? Would you like to?

Who's Doing Cyber Monday?

I'm very carefully going to check out the Cyber Monday deals. I have a few items in mind that I plan to buy, but it would be very nice if they'd go on sale and save me some money. I won't be spending much. Can't afford to do so this year.

What about you?

Did You Shop on Black Friday?

There's still time to take the poll to the left about what you ate at Thanksgiving.
About Black Friday -
The DH despises mob scenes, but my brother and I do love the adventure of shopping on Black Friday. We weren't courageous enough to get up at the crack of dawn, though, so we did miss out on a few goodies, like the snuglee blankets and pots and pans sets at Menards, and some other items. I did manage to get some work gloves at almost 50 cents each pair, and a boot/shoe dryer which sounded interesting and was less than $9.00. The biggest extravagance there was this turntable with MP3 encoding/AM FM radio combination thing, but that was only $49.00, which isn't too bad. I didn't go for any of the high ticket items.

I didn't do too bad, but do have some Staples rebates to send in. They're pretty easy to do online, so I don't mind doing them. I bought some USB flash drives, batteries, and CD rewrites there.

I also bought a reversible light grey, almost white bubble coat and some grey boots at Walmart, both items $7.00 each, which I plan to use walking Rascal.

What about you? Did you shop on Black Friday? If so, what kind of deals did you get?

So, this year I was pretty practical, but it was still fun and I did get a few things I hadn't expected to find.

What about you? Did you shop on Black Friday? If so, what kind of finds did you get?

Rascal is sleeping right now. When she gets up, you'll know about it.

When RASCAL wakes up, you'll hear from her and/or her Mom - that would be me, Morgan Mandel.
