Daughters

This is my first blog, and I wanted to talk about my daughter. She's a teacher who works with young children getting them ready to attend kindergarten. She chose this out of the many schools she could have taught in. She recently became a grandmother for the first time, which means I'm a great-grandmother. The reason I wanted to write about her today is that she is downstairs in my living room, sanding my hardwood floors to repair 35 years of wear and tear.

Often, when we go off on writ… Continue

It was a pleasure for me as well. I don't do as much here as I should, but hope to in the future. We ought to begin a group of hat wearers.
I'll keep checking your blog for some good stuff.

Hi Velda,

This must be a Hat Place as well as a Book Place.

Thanks for adding me as a friend here, and for being a guest on my blog. It was a pleasure to have you tell us how to write historical fiction and nonfiction on

I am always anxious to link my writing blog and my Myths, Legends and Heroes of Arkansas blog to others. I think it helps us all.
They are vbrotherton.blogspot.com and velda-brotherton.blogspot.com and they in turn are linked to some interesting websites and other blogs. It's fun and profitable to interact with other writers.

Hi Linda, We never know when we see a name online where on earth that person may live, but yes we are neighbors. Do you ever attend the Ozarks Writers League that meets quarterly south of Branson at the College of the Ozarks? A great get together. They always have good speakers and the price is right. If you're interested, let me know, I'll get information to you. Next meeting is August 18. We certainly have more than where we live in common, don't we?

Hi Velda--it's good to meet you! We're neighbors, you know, because I live in southern Missouri. My daughter teaches four-year-olds, too, in an Early Childhood program and I sometimes give diagnostic developmental tests to them. Kids that age are so much fun to be around!

My new phone came today and it took me all afternoon to get it set up to charge. So I got nothing done online at all. Grrrr.

Hi dear friend! This is a great site. Yes, I'd like to know how to spruce up my page. Maybe I'll grab some time next week.

The Baxter Bulletin, huh? I was with the Washington County Observer for about ten years as feature writer, then city editor, until it sold and was closed, then went over to Elkins where we started The White River Valley News. I only work from home now, writing a historical feature each week. We have some of the same background, but I only learned journalism as I went, never attended school for it. I too have a book embracing some of my stories from interviews over the years. You stop by too, if you're ever in the Bostons.

MORGAN'S OWN BLOGSPOT

Paper War

I've been waging a war on paper the last few days. So far, paper is winning. The more I clean up, the more of it I find. The problem is, for much of it, I feel an obligation to do a thorough examination and decide whether or not it's worth keeping.

The mailperson is my enemy. He, sometimes she, keeps leaving more paper in my mail box. I'm not talking about my Christmas cards, which I cherish, but all the other stuff dropped off for me to sort out. At times it's torture to come home and see the new pile the DH has set on the kitchen table.

I've discovered tons of magazines over a year old. They were trying to hide in a magazine holder on the side of the couch, but not doing a good job of it, since they were spilling over. Of course, I decided to check the headings on the covers to see if some of the information inside might prove valuable. Wouldn't you know it, I was right. Many articles seemed to good to give up.

I've already mentioned here before about how I also have a compulsion to print out emails that seem important to me. The result is I have lots of important pieces of paper. When there's an abundance, which is the most important? And, where's the one I really need? It is a quandary.

What about you? Is paper your enemy? Are you also waging a war against it? Who is winning?

Rascal's Turn to Post

Today, I'm going to tackle my State of Illinois sales tax form, which is due by the end of the month. It's a necessary evil for making book sales outside of stores.

So, I let Rascal do a post instead. You can read it at http://www.doggyspace.com/journal/57331

If you understand her frustration, you can share it with her here or there.

Thanks,
Morgan

Rascal is sleeping right now. When she gets up, you'll know about it.

When RASCAL wakes up, you'll hear from her and/or her Mom - that would be me, Morgan Mandel.
