Are you an Author, Reader, Publisher, Editor, Agent or Other?
I began my creative career as a poet and went on to win awards for the past four years for several of my poems. From there I went one step further and began writing a children's poetry book which was published and helped jump start my writing profession. I have two romance novels published, "She Cries in the Dark" and "The Other Side of You". I am working hard on my third. Inspired by creating my own book covers, I put together a portfolio and contacted several publishers and fellow authors with the hope of putting my imagination and artistic talent to good use.I am happy to say that I have recently won the Book Cover Artist of March 2009 award for my cover of BRIGGEN. I am looking forward to a rewarding and satisfying career creating great stories and book covers. So if you would like more information, visit my site at www.debidesantis.com/book_cover.html

About Me:
I am a mother of two and live in West Palm Beach, FL. My love for writing began when I was in high school with short stories and poetry. It was over 10 years ago when I began writing 'She Cries in the Dark'. After briefly scribbling the first few chapters, I put it away only to start where I left off a little over a year ago.

My other writing interests include romantic poetry, inspirational verse, and children’s stories. I am proud to say that my poetry has been published in two coffee table books and because of this accomplishment I received the Editors Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry two years in a row. I was nominated for Poet of the Year in 2005 and 2006 and I have been inducted as An International Poet of Merit by the International Society of Poets. I have also received the distinguished honor of 2006 Poetry Ambassador and been selected to receive the Official 2006 Commemorative U.S. Poetry Ambassador Medal.

I now have 17 book covers under my creative belt and look forward to working with more fellow authors to aid in the process of making their literary dreams come true by designing the ultimate cover.

Hi Debi. I just read your post and was wondering if you've ever attended a writer's conference?

Hey, Debi!
One thing I would suggest, and I have a few friends who do this, is have one name for one genre, and then a second one. One woman I know lets everyone know it is her other personality, but that way there is no confustion between her writing genres.
While Samhain doesn't do children's, they do YA's, they do mainstream where many of your books might fall, and they are in print and in stores. They are closed to submissions right now, but they will be opening them again soon.

Let's see....where do I start? I am a new author but have been writing for the last 20+ years. I began with poetry which led to my children's book and then ultimately to woman's fiction.(strange uhh?) I have sold about 60 copies of the novel but need to add about 3 or 4 more zero's to that figure. lol.....I have been very busy trying to promote my work, but I could use a little help. If anyone out there knows someone who knows someone, who is looking for a fiction or children's writer I am their girl. I would appreciate any leads or tips.

Thanks
Debi

New Killer Career Excerpt at Acme Authors Link

Hi Gang,
Today, I've got a new Killer Career excerpt up at http://acmeauthorslink.blogspot.com/ . This one continues from the first excerpt I posted on Monday at http://makeminemystery.blogspot.com/

If you're curious about my recently released romantic suspense, come on over to one or both blogs to check it out.

Thanks,
Morgan

Time Out for Kindle Reading

Our local library has 8 kindles available for its patrons. The DH and I both got on the waiting list, mainly so I could use one. His number was reached and we picked up the kindle on Sunday afternoon. Now I've got a kindle to read for 2 weeks! So far I'm really loving it, especially the current book I'm reading, My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult.

What about you? Do you own a kindle? Or, have you tried someone else's? Would you like to?

Who's Doing Cyber Monday?

I'm very carefully going to check out the Cyber Monday deals. I have a few items in mind that I plan to buy, but it would be very nice if they'd go on sale and save me some money. I won't be spending much. Can't afford to do so this year.

What about you?

Did You Shop on Black Friday?

There's still time to take the poll to the left about what you ate at Thanksgiving.
About Black Friday -
The DH despises mob scenes, but my brother and I do love the adventure of shopping on Black Friday. We weren't courageous enough to get up at the crack of dawn, though, so we did miss out on a few goodies, like the snuglee blankets and pots and pans sets at Menards, and some other items. I did manage to get some work gloves at almost 50 cents each pair, and a boot/shoe dryer which sounded interesting and was less than $9.00. The biggest extravagance there was this turntable with MP3 encoding/AM FM radio combination thing, but that was only $49.00, which isn't too bad. I didn't go for any of the high ticket items.

I didn't do too bad, but do have some Staples rebates to send in. They're pretty easy to do online, so I don't mind doing them. I bought some USB flash drives, batteries, and CD rewrites there.

I also bought a reversible light grey, almost white bubble coat and some grey boots at Walmart, both items $7.00 each, which I plan to use walking Rascal.

What about you? Did you shop on Black Friday? If so, what kind of deals did you get?

So, this year I was pretty practical, but it was still fun and I did get a few things I hadn't expected to find.

What about you? Did you shop on Black Friday? If so, what kind of finds did you get?

Rascal is sleeping right now. When she gets up, you'll know about it.

When RASCAL wakes up, you'll hear from her and/or her Mom - that would be me, Morgan Mandel.
