BLOOD LAW
Alexandra Sabian, vampire and Enforcer with the Federal Bureau of Preternatural Investigation, moved to Jefferson to escape the memory of her father's unsolved murder and a life filled with violence. Now a killer stalks the streets of the small town. When three vampires are brutally murdered in the same manner as her father, the deaths resurrect the ghosts buried in Alex's past, along with a love she thought she left behind.
When the heart of the vampire community is targeted by a hate group and Alex's brother is kidnapped, the media frenzy threatens to derail both the investigation and Alex's career -- not to mention her sanity.
Alex must find the strength to face her past and save both the local vampire community and her brother before the escalating tensions between humans and vampires turn Jefferson's streets crimson with blood.

- I'm originally from Smithdale, MS, (a town so small it's often absent from state maps) and I write dark urban fantasy and supernatural suspense novels, which are best described as "Lisa Gardner meets Anne Rice." My first novel, BLOOD LAW, was sold to Bantam Dell as part of a two book deal and will published May 25, 2010.
I'm a member of International Thriller Writers, Mystery Writers of America, Romance Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, International Order of Horror Professionals, and the Association for Gravestone Studies, an organization dedicated to preserving historic cemeteries.
I've had a short story -- BIG RED: A LOVE STORY -- and a nonfiction essay -- SOMETHING BORROWED -- published in ORACLE, a fine arts review journal published by the University of South Alabama. I also had a nonfiction essay -- NUGGET'S STORY -- published in the anthology WRITING MOBILE BAY: THE HURRICANE PROJECT and was selected to read a portion of my essay during the Alabama Book Festival in April 2006. When I'm not writing, I'm always on the prowl for the perfect megahugebighonkin'ginormous cup of coffee -- white chocolate mochas are my absolute favorite. I hold Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in English with an emphasis in creative writing from the University of South Alabama. Currently, I live in Mobile, Alabama with my husband and four neurotic cats.

I'm Thrilled!
July 8-13, 2008 will be a thrilling time for me. I just registered for the 3rd annual International Thriller Writers conference, aka ThrillerFest. Woohoo!
Yep, I'm heading back to New York next summer. ThrillerFest 2007 was a blast. How could I resist going back?
It will also be a nice break from classes. I'll officially start working on my creative thesis for grad school in the spring and defend in the fall. A trip to New York in between will be a perfect mid-thesis vacation. P

I received some good news Thursday: I can now list two more publishing credits to my name.

The University of South Alabama's award-winning, student-run fine arts review magazine, ORACLE, accepted and published two of my submitted works in their latest issue. It's only published during the spring and is a joint effort between the English and Fine Arts Departments.

Okay, there isn't really a joke buried here, but now that I have your attention, I'll answer a question I'm sure you're dying to ask. (As for the question of how many dead puns I can pack into a blog posting, the answer is "an infinite number.")

Over the Holiday weekend I took a good look at my house and that familiar helples feeling washed over me again. It seemed like an insurmountable task to get the place in order. It still does.I spend so much time writing and promoting after I do my day job, what little time I have left is precious. Still, sometimes I just have to buckle down and ignore my compulsion to write and make myself clean house instead. I tackled the spare bedroom, which had clothes and all kinds of other articles strewn over the bed, on the floor, and anywhere you can think of, compliments of myself and the DH, who were equally guilty. I did make some headway, which made me feel good, but if I had more time I know I could do better. Also, there are so many other projects left to do if I were to get the house really into shape. I'm wondering how much I'll get done before Christmas, when I have my family over.
Maybe over the weekend I can get more done, that is, after I do the Illinois sales tax form first, which is due by the end of the month. I've got almost all of my check statements, except one, which I think I can find online, so maybe I can get that done. You may have guessed I'm not the most organized person in the world.
Anyway, let's see how far I can get cleaning up. I've got this kindle on loan from the library, with about 9 days left on it, and lots of good books on it beckoning to me. I've got some great ideas for stories I want to start and others I want to continue. I've got some blog buddies I haven't visited for a while. I wonder what will win out. (g)
What about you? What do you do about housework? Does it get in the way sometimes?

Time Out for Kindle Reading
Our local library has 8 kindles available for its patrons. The DH and I both got on the waiting list, mainly so I could use one. His number was reached and we picked up the kindle on Sunday afternoon. Now I've got a kindle to read for 2 weeks! So far I'm really loving it, especially the current book I'm reading, My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult.What about you? Do you own a kindle? Or, have you tried someone else's? Would you like to?
Who's Doing Cyber Monday?
I'm very carefully going to check out the Cyber Monday deals. I have a few items in mind that I plan to buy, but it would be very nice if they'd go on sale and save me some money. I won't be spending much. Can't afford to do so this year.What about you?
