This is for any Christian fiction writer, especially those who need a place to promote their work, and have found other Christian sites turn them away. We welcome all genres and subgenres, (Yes Frank, even cyberpunk!)

Are you an Author, Reader, Publisher, Editor, Agent or Other?
Author. My first novel THE 3RD COVENANT, is a mystery novel starring Detective Nat Adams and CSI May K. Wish. There's a cast of characters that is truly interesting, and unique. Some have said my book is like CSI meets Jackie Chan. Others have likened it to a cross between CSI and Law and Order. In otherwords, it's different. Nat and May hunt down a cult in THE 3RD COVENANT, specifically its ex-convict leader. My 2nd Adams/Wish novel is under consideration. Here May is hunting down a rapist, Nat is hunting for an abducted teen in downstate New York. As it happens, they're looking for the same person. This is a very intense book. I'm still recovering from writing it. I'm working on a 3rd which starts out with Nat waking up in a subway tunnel, but has no idea how he got there or who he is, only that he has a whollopping headache. May is investigating a missing person case, when she'd rather be looking for Nat. This should also be a fantastic story. Joe Prentis and myself are also working on an end times novel that most Christian publishers wouldn't touch. We hope to make this a thriller, not just a suspense. Since we're talking about the future the Biblical accuracy is going to be a bit "iffy", but one thing is true, judgment is coming to the house of Ishmael.
Do You Have A Website?
I'm co-founder of the Christian Fiction Review Blog along with Jackie Moore. We can be found at http://cfrblog.blogspot.com This December we have completed our first year of tours. We've waded through many difficulties, both technical and otherwise, to create a blog that spreads the Gospel by promoting Christian works of fiction, usually fiction that has been denied promotion in many other places. I have to tell you folks, I've read some of the best books this past year. Next year promises to be just as good if not better.

My personal website is at http://freewebs.com/sonburst

I have also worked with my pastor's son setting up a website that explains Christianity in forensic terms. It was fun. http://freewebs.com/ltryan

Then there's the church's site at http://freewebs.com/pastorerik
About Me:
Happily married (34 years July 7th) and father of 2 great children, grandfather to one young man. I'm a retired correctional officer who, prior to that worked security with interesting things like bomb searches and building evacuations. I'm also a licensed minister helping my pastor establish Soar Like An Eagle Ministries, as a new church in Milford, PA. And I work part time as a library clerk. All that when I'm not writing or answering email.
Do you have a blog site?

Favorite Books:
It's impossible for me to list all the books I enjoy. I love Jeffery Deaver's works, Harlan Coben, David Baldacci, Terri Blackstock, Brandilyn Collins and of course Joel Rosenberg. I find Rosenberg possibly the most stimulating of those mentioned. Yet there are those writers just getting published and they have extremely good talent. Look for names like A.P. Fuchs, Chad Lavendar, Frank Creed, Deborah C. Smith, James Somers and Mary Connealy to name a few. These the world basically doesn't know about, but they will and soon. Some books in that regard are LIGHT AT THE EDGE OF DARKNESS, INFINITE SPACE, INFINITE GOD, THE CHRONICLES OF SOONE: HEIR TO THE KING, PETTICOAT RANCH and FLASHPOINT. I haven't listed everyone. Your site isn't large enough to handle them all.

Christian Fiction is Great

I'm a Christian, but it hasn't been until the last ten years or so that Christian publishers got gutsy enough to start publishing some really good fiction. Since then I've added my own book to the growing pile of Christian fiction. It's a mystery (THE 3RD COVENANT) and I love it. I helped form the Christian Fiction Review Blog (http://cfrblog.blogspot.com) which reviews a work of fiction every month. Mostly we've been getting material from authors published through small publishers and even self-published presses. They're great. I can see more talent on one of my book shelves than on several in the public library. They're not mysteries either. We've had a few fantasies, some sci-fi (even sci-fi with a Catholic twist) and Biblical speculative fiction, which covers a lot of ground. They all have one thing in common, they're Christian. Some don't mention Jesus at all, but when you read them it's obvious there is a Christ-type in there. I'd rather read and write this kind of thing than anything else. Show me a writer in a genre and chances are I know of a writer in the Christian field doing the same thing ... most of the time better.

I do like certain secular writers though. It's not like I back myself into a corner. As a mystery buff I enjoy the works of Jeffery Deaver, Harlan Coben, Linda Fairstein, David Baldacci, T. Jefferson Parker, to name just a few. I've read, and have personally banned, James Patterson and Patricia Cornwall, and a few others. Hey, if they're your favorite authors, so be it, but you're missing some really great writing found only in the Christian realm. Pick up LIGHT AT THE EDGE OF DARKNESS, INFINITE SPACE, INFINITE GOD, PETTICOAT RANCH, THE CHRONICLES OF SOONE: HEIR TO THE KING, to name just a few. And here's a peek at what 's soon to come; THE DUKE'S HANDMAID, FLASHPOINT and FAITH AWAKENED.

Being a Christian shouldn't be dull. If it is something is wrong. Being a Christian writer shows how fantastic our lives as Christians can be. We don't talk a whole lot about religion, because, basically, that IS a drag. Instead we talk about the ongoing adventure of being a Child of God.

New Here

I'm new around here and, unfortunately, didn't even know you exited until I did a web search about Deadly Ink. I thought I was going to a Deadly Ink site and ended up on Deady Deb's site here. She's been working hard to put together a smash convention later this month. And, sorry to say, I'm one of her headaches. Just as doctors make poor patients, sometimes writers make poor participants. We've been trying to hammer something out.

Put off!? It's downright refreshing! When I get reviews that say "For an unabashed Christian story, this was pretty good" it makes me fume. Should we be ashamed? As Paul said, "Certainly not!" Jesus told us to spread the gospel. I am not articulate, nor eloquent, nor un=-scatterbrained to do a very good job of doing that face-to-face so I do it (or rather, God does it) through my writing. And man, does HE ever! O_O

Anmen about going down praising His name. Paul said to fight the good fight. So that is what we should do. :D

I accidentally deleted my last message to you, but you know what it said. Anyway, I know you're writing fiction; I was just pointing out the facts. You're story sounds interesting.

David,
Thanks for your insightful comments about the book trailers. I'm learning that it's interesting when you get a reviewer - or a book trailer designer's - interpretation of one's work. What would make for an interesting article would be the various author's views on his/her trailers, huh? For me, mine tends to play up the inciting incident much more than the genetic inheritence theme (which is the bulk of the story). Different opinions for everyone.

Thanks again. I enjoyed your comments.

David, didn't we meet in Parsippany, NJ last year? I was a speaker for a conference there. Seems lile we had a discussion about prisons or corrections officers, or something like that. Maybe I'm losing it, but you look very familiar.

Shirley, and the rest of you, don't let bitterness and unforgiveness to mar your relationship with God. Jesus looked down from a cross and forgave them...and us. He tells us that we are to forgive all evil done to us. Trust me that's rough. "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us." Don't just do it for Jeff, not even for God. Do it for yourself. Jesus said to pray for those who persecute you, "Bless and do not curse." None of this can be done in the carnal nature, but must be done by the power of His Holy Spirit living in us. Then the world will see His love, His endless love and mercy, and be drawn to Him. The goal when dealing with an enemy is to make them your friend...unless you are talking spiritual warfare, but that's a whole other post.

May God grant you peace and strength to do what He asks of you that you be restored to the position He wishes you to be. This is like a child apologizing for something they did wrong so they can sit on their father's lap. Get things right with those who come against you so that you can sit on our Heavenly Father's lap, in Christ Jesus.

Hi David, thanks for your input. There were many great guards on death row in Nashville who were good to Jeff and the others. But there were also the other kind who tried to make our visits short or harrass us when they could.

I'm still working on forgiveness...it's hard to do and I am still working on it. Jeff forgave all and never once complained in all those years....and he'd ask me to pick things up for Chief, the guilty person, as I had a ministry for all on death row. I'd do it for Jeff and not for Chief. I always prayed he'd tell the truth to someone who could do something about it, but he never did. Only to the minister who's letter I have that says he knew Jeff was not guilty of the crime but he would not come forward with that information.

I know we have to forgive if we expect forgiveness and so I pray it will happen all the way for the prosecutor and Chief as well as the judge who knew also that Jeff was not guilty. Thanks for your insight. Shirley

People, when requesting to be added in as a "friend" please understand where I stand, and respect that. You don't have to agree, but I do expect you to respect me as I would you. If you ARE a Christian, particularly a Christian author, and even more specifically a Christian FICTION author, let me know. I'd be more than happy to add you.

Time Out for Kindle Reading

Our local library has 8 kindles available for its patrons. The DH and I both got on the waiting list, mainly so I could use one. His number was reached and we picked up the kindle on Sunday afternoon. Now I've got a kindle to read for 2 weeks! So far I'm really loving it, especially the current book I'm reading, My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult.

What about you? Do you own a kindle? Or, have you tried someone else's? Would you like to?

Who's Doing Cyber Monday?

I'm very carefully going to check out the Cyber Monday deals. I have a few items in mind that I plan to buy, but it would be very nice if they'd go on sale and save me some money. I won't be spending much. Can't afford to do so this year.

What about you?

Did You Shop on Black Friday?

There's still time to take the poll to the left about what you ate at Thanksgiving.
About Black Friday -
The DH despises mob scenes, but my brother and I do love the adventure of shopping on Black Friday. We weren't courageous enough to get up at the crack of dawn, though, so we did miss out on a few goodies, like the snuglee blankets and pots and pans sets at Menards, and some other items. I did manage to get some work gloves at almost 50 cents each pair, and a boot/shoe dryer which sounded interesting and was less than $9.00. The biggest extravagance there was this turntable with MP3 encoding/AM FM radio combination thing, but that was only $49.00, which isn't too bad. I didn't go for any of the high ticket items.

I didn't do too bad, but do have some Staples rebates to send in. They're pretty easy to do online, so I don't mind doing them. I bought some USB flash drives, batteries, and CD rewrites there.

I also bought a reversible light grey, almost white bubble coat and some grey boots at Walmart, both items $7.00 each, which I plan to use walking Rascal.

What about you? Did you shop on Black Friday? If so, what kind of deals did you get?

So, this year I was pretty practical, but it was still fun and I did get a few things I hadn't expected to find.

What about you? Did you shop on Black Friday? If so, what kind of finds did you get?

Did you eat any of these foods at Thanksgiving dinner?

Since it's a busy time and an eating time, here's an easy poll to take in the left column. It's okay to pick multiple answers as long as they don't conflict. You can also leave a comment about a particularly favorite dish, if you wish.
