Christian Bishop, mechanic, hates alot of things; the rain, ignorant people and rich snobs that think they are better than everyone else. Then why was he so taken in by the lovely Emiko Chan? And why is it when she gives him an indecent proposal, did he accepts it?
***Excerpt***
Christian Bishop hated the rain.
Frowning, he turned and entered his office off to the side of his garage and sat down behind the crowded desk. He still wondered how he could find anything on it but after a few years of working with all the clutter, it’s somewhat of a sixth sense to him. He dug out the ringing telephone from under a pile of telephone books and began to drop them on by one onto the floor, “Bishop Garage,” he answered as the last book hit the floor.
He pushed back against the rickety leather chair and crossed his jean clad ankles on the desk. He listened to the voice on the other end and even though he heard every word the woman said, he could tell a lot by the way she spoke. Shaking his head he rolled his eyes and smiled, “Have you been to Bishop’s before?”
“No I haven’t,” Emiko Chan told him, “this is somewhat of an emergency and my regular guy chose now to take a vacation.” She hired her own personal mechanic that her father recommended. True, she had to fly him over from Myers Rock but it was worth it. The man was a genius.
“I see,” Christian frowned and pulled his legs off the desk, “get the car into my garage and I’ll take a look at it.”
“It can’t be driven,” the woman sounded as though she was getting frustrated, “I don’t even know why it wont start.”
“Well I wish you had said that in the first place,” Christian teased knowing full well that she may not like t hat, “Gimme your address and I’ll have someone come tow it.”
Christian began digging through the mess on his desk to find a pen. He would be the one going for it because his only employee was a high school senior who only worked there during the summer driving the tow truck. When he finally found one, he turned over a poster, “Alright, what’s the address?”
“My name is Emiko Chan and I am at 55 Sabre Street.”
“Alright, we’ll be there in about half an hour.”
“Can’t you come now? This is important.”
“Look lady, I’m the only person here today and I have other vehicles in the shop as we speak that needs to be looked at. One hour.”
He hung up the phone and grinned as he placed his legs back on the desk, rested his head back against the seat and closed his eyes; A nap was exactly what he ordered.
