About Me:
My wife Kathy and I live in Gonzales, Texas, which is about 60 miles south of Austin. I began writing about 35 years ago, but it was just as a hobbie. After graduating High School, I did a few jobs around town, then decided to join the military in 1979. For the next 13 years I served in the US Army as a medic and as a medical NCO. My travels in the military took me from Ft. Riley, Kansas to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, with a final stop at Ft. Irwin, California where after mud slides, Rodney King riots and a 7.2 earthquake I decided it was time to get out. After returning to Gonzales, my first wife decided that she wanted to move on, so I became a single father with two teenagers at home. Not long afterward I met my wife Kathy who read the stories that I had written and stated that they had to be published.

The Sea Huntress: Pirate's Blood

Well things have been very busy lately. I've started a new job, so I'm not on the net as much as I use to be. So let me tell you about the 3rd book in the Sea Huntress series. It is going throught the publisher right now, but should be on the shelf early in 2008. I'll let everyone know when that happens, and when I get back on the booksigning trail again.

Upcoming Booksignings

Right now I do not have any scheduled booksignings. I have had to hold off for a short time so that I could complete the rewrite on the 3rd book in the Sea Huntress series, which is The Sea Huntress: Pirate's Blood. It should be coming out sometime early next year. Also I've been busily writing some short stories and novellas that will be sent to the publisher also as soon as they are ready. If you're looking for The Sea Huntress or The Sea Huntress: Elizabeth's Revenge, they can be found eve

Stroking the Ego

Well yesterday started as all other days usually do. Get up, do my routine for breakfast, check the help want ads, then sit down for some serious writing for the next 7 to 8 hours. Later in the day the phone rings, when I look at the caller ID I don't recognize the call so I keep writing. Then my wife yells from the living room "Pick up the phone". When I answer, one of my most surprising fans is on the line. He tells me "You know I loved the first book (The Sea Huntress). Well I just finished r… Continue

From Bad to Great

Just to let you know, this past weekend is setting the standard. I went into the bookstore and found that they had not put my books out on display. So there had been no pre-sales before my arrival. But in less time that I was scheduled for the signing, WE SOLD OUT. Every book of mine sold out in the store in just about an hour and a half.

Hi,

My name is Chris Tusa, and I'm a writer from New Orleans. My debut novel, Dirty Little Angels, is now available for pre-order from Amazon.com, and I am writing because I was hoping you might be willing to read it and post your thoughts on Amazon.com (or some of the other book review sites). If you're interested, I'd be more than willing to send you an e-book version by e-mail. Just let me know. I've included a summary of the novel below:

Dirty Little Angels
Set in the slums of New Orleans, among clusters of crack houses and abandoned buildings, Dirty Little Angels is the story of sixteen year old Hailey Trosclair. When the Trosclair family suffers a string of financial hardships and a miscarriage, Hailey finds herself looking to God to save her family. When her prayers go unanswered, Hailey puts her faith in Moses Watkins, a failed preacher and ex-con. Fascinated by Moses's lopsided view of religion, Hailey, and her brother Cyrus, begin spending time down at an abandoned bank that Moses plans to convert into a drive-through church. Gradually, though, Moses's twisted religious beliefs become increasingly more violent, and Hailey and Cyrus soon find themselves trapped in a world of danger and fear from which there may be no escape.

If you'd like to read the first chapter before you commit, feel free to visit my web site:

Nice saga report of your life. The area around Austin, North or South is great. We lived in Houston for 10 years and found that every time we went to Austin the roads were under construction. Are they still? Oh, well, that is the life in the UT area.

Happy holidays...

Check out the Mystery of the Missing Checks

Monday, I'm over at my group blog, http://makeminemystery.blogspot.com/, where I'm blogging about the mystery of the missing checks. Come on over and find out what it's all about.

Thanks,

Can We Talk?

I'm firming up some dates for speaking engagements in 2010. One's tentatively set for March 28, at 1:30 at the Niles Public Library, another probably in mid May at the Schaumburg Township District Library.

Also, coming up is a radio interview at WJJQ again on May 7, at 9:35 a.m. before my booksigning May 8 at Cover to Cover Books in Tomahawk, WI.

I've heard that some people are more afraid of public speaking than of dying. Surprisingly, I find it easier each time I do it. As long as I have my cheat sheet with me to glance down at once in a while for security and I like what I'm talking about, I'm okay.

What about you? Do you like to talk or would you rather not?

Helpless

Over the Holiday weekend I took a good look at my house and that familiar helples feeling washed over me again. It seemed like an insurmountable task to get the place in order. It still does.

I spend so much time writing and promoting after I do my day job, what little time I have left is precious. Still, sometimes I just have to buckle down and ignore my compulsion to write and make myself clean house instead. I tackled the spare bedroom, which had clothes and all kinds of other articles strewn over the bed, on the floor, and anywhere you can think of, compliments of myself and the DH, who were equally guilty.  I did make some headway, which made me feel good, but if I had more time I know I could do better. Also, there are so many other projects left to do if I were to get the house really into shape. I'm wondering how much I'll get done before Christmas, when I have my family over.

Maybe over the weekend I can get more done, that is, after I do the Illinois sales tax form first, which is due by the end of the month. I've got almost all of my check statements, except one, which I think I can find online, so maybe I can get that done. You may have guessed I'm not the most organized person in the world.

Anyway, let's see how far I can get cleaning up. I've got this kindle on loan from the library, with about 9 days left on it, and lots of good books on it beckoning to me. I've got some great ideas for stories I want to start and others I want to continue. I've got some blog buddies I haven't visited for a while. I wonder what will win out. (g)

What about you? What do you do about housework? Does it get in the way sometimes?

PS The not so surprising results are up on the left for my EZ poll. I'll have to do a harder one some time.
